Shaquena Foote is a Jamaican sprinter whose versatility and continued development have established her as an emerging force in the 400 meters. A product of Jamaica’s strong middle-distance and sprint tradition, Foote has competed successfully across multiple events throughout her career.

Foote began making her mark as a junior athlete at Petersfield High School in Jamaica. In 2017, she won silver in the 800 meters at the CARIFTA Games and earned a medal as part of Jamaica’s mixed 4×400-meter relay team at the IAAF World U18 Championships in Nairobi. The following year, she captured Jamaican age-group titles in the 800 and 1500 meters and won the U20 800 meters at the CARIFTA Games.

As her career progressed, Foote transitioned to the 400-meter hurdles before developing into a highly competitive 400-meter specialist. In 2023, she represented Jamaica at the NACAC Championships in Costa Rica, earning three silver medals in the women’s 4×100, women’s 4×400, and mixed 4×400 relays.

Competing collegiately for San Diego State University, Foote reached the semifinal round at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships and finished fifth in the 400 meters at the Jamaican Athletics Championships. Her performances earned her selection to Jamaica’s relay pool for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

After transferring to the University of Georgia, Foote enjoyed a breakthrough 2026 indoor season. She ran a personal-best 51.27 seconds in the 400 meters before improving to 51.13 seconds at the NCAA Indoor Championships, where she finished fifth in the final. The performance placed her among Jamaica’s top five all-time performers in the indoor 400 meters.

With a strong competitive foundation, international relay experience, and rapidly improving times, Foote continues to establish herself as one of Jamaica’s promising 400-meter athletes.
