Alana Reid is a Jamaican sprinting standout who has rapidly emerged as one of the country’s leading young athletes in the 100 and 200 meters. A world junior champion, national champion, and Commonwealth Games medalist, Reid combines elite speed with championship experience beyond her years.

Reid began making her mark at Hydel High School in Jamaica. At just 17, she won bronze in the 200 meters at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, running a personal-best 22.95 seconds.

In 2023, Reid announced herself as one of Jamaica’s fastest young sprinters. She ran 10.92 seconds in the 100 meters at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships, setting a Jamaican national junior record and placing herself among the fastest junior sprinters in history.

Reid continued her rise in 2024, representing Jamaica in the 4×100-meter relay at the Paris Olympic Games before capturing two gold medals at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru. She won the individual 100 meters and helped Jamaica claim gold in the 4×100-meter relay. Her outstanding season earned her recognition as the 2024 International U20 Female Athlete of the Year by Athletics Weekly.

Choosing to turn professional rather than pursue collegiate athletics, Reid continued developing on the international circuit. In 2025, she competed for Jamaica at the World Athletics Relays and reached the senior Jamaican Championships 100-meter final.

The 2026 season brought another major breakthrough. Reid won her first senior Jamaican national title in the 200 meters with a personal-best 22.29 seconds. She went on to win gold in the 200 meters at the NACAC U23 Championships and bronze in the event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. She also helped Jamaica win gold in the Commonwealth Games 4×100-meter relay.

With a national junior record, world junior title, senior national championship, and international medals already on her résumé, Reid is rapidly establishing herself as one of Jamaica’s brightest sprinting talents.
