Davonte Howell is a Caymanian sprinter who has quickly established himself as one of the Cayman Islands’ leading young track and field athletes. Specializing in the 100 meters, Howell has already gained experience on some of the sport’s biggest stages, including the Olympic Games and NCAA Championships.

Howell emerged as a major talent in the Caribbean junior ranks. At the 2023 CARIFTA Games, he won the Under-20 100-meter title in 10.28 seconds. He successfully defended his title at the 2024 CARIFTA Games, improving to 10.15 seconds and further establishing himself as one of the region’s premier young sprinters.

Training under Jamaican Olympic sprinter and coach Dwight Thomas, Howell developed his speed and competitive experience while preparing for the transition to senior-level athletics.

In 2024, Howell represented the Cayman Islands at the Paris Olympic Games, competing in the men’s 100 meters. His Olympic appearance marked an important milestone in his developing international career.

Howell has also competed collegiately in the United States for the University of Tennessee, where he became part of the Volunteers’ sprint program. He represented Tennessee as a member of the 4×100-meter relay team at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, gaining valuable experience competing against the top collegiate athletes in the country.

With consecutive CARIFTA Under-20 titles, Olympic experience, NCAA championship competition, and a strong foundation in elite sprint development, Howell is continuing to build his career as one of the Cayman Islands’ most promising sprinters.
