Brianna Lyston is a Jamaican sprinting standout whose exceptional speed and early success have established her as one of the most promising young athletes in international track and field.

Born in Jamaica, Lyston made her mark at an exceptionally young age, setting the world under-13 record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.72 seconds. She continued her rapid development through Jamaica’s highly competitive junior athletics system, emerging as one of the country’s leading young sprinters.

At the 2022 ISSA Boys and Girls Championships in Kingston, Lyston ran 22.53 seconds in the 200 meters, becoming the second-fastest Jamaican under-20 athlete at the time and breaking the Class 1 meeting record. Later that year at the CARIFTA Games, she won gold in the 200 meters and helped Jamaica’s 4×100-meter relay team set a championship record of 42.58 seconds.

Lyston continued her rise at the collegiate level in the United States. In 2024, she won the NCAA Indoor Championship in the 60 meters with a personal-best 7.03 seconds. She also established herself as an elite 100-meter sprinter, running 10.91 seconds at the SEC Championships before finishing runner-up at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 10.89 seconds.

After overcoming a series of injuries, Lyston transitioned to the professional ranks in 2025, signing with adidas and beginning the next chapter of her career.

In 2026, she represented Jamaica at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń, Poland, reaching the 60-meter final and finishing fourth in 7.05 seconds. She continued her outdoor campaign with a 10.94-second performance in the 100 meters at the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Florida.

With elite acceleration, championship experience, and significant room for continued growth, Lyston is emerging as a major force in Jamaican sprinting.
