Oluwatobiloba Ayomide “Tobi” Amusan is a Nigerian track and field athlete and one of the world’s premier 100-meter hurdlers. A three-time Diamond League champion, Amusan became the first Nigerian world champion in athletics when she won gold at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

At those championships, she set the 100m hurdles world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinal, becoming the first Nigerian athlete to hold a world record in athletics. She followed with a wind-assisted 12.06 seconds in the final to claim the world title.

Amusan is also a two-time Commonwealth champion, a two-time African champion, and a two-time African Games champion. In 2021, she became the first Nigerian athlete to win a Diamond League title, setting an African record of 12.42 seconds.

Her international success began early. She won African Junior Championships and African Games titles as an 18-year-old in 2015 before continuing her development at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she became an NCAA champion and one of the leading hurdlers in collegiate athletics. She represented Nigeria at the 2016 Rio Olympics and went on to compete at multiple World Championships and Olympic Games.

Beyond athletics, Amusan earned a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies and Sports Management from UTEP in 2023. Her career reflects a combination of elite performance, resilience, leadership, and a commitment to representing Nigeria on the global stage.
